Altitude Services – Our Biggest Equine Project to Date

Kilmore, Victoria is the site of Altitude Services latest project, our biggest to date. At this expansive pre-training facility some 100 kilometres from Melbourne Altitude Services is retrofitting an old serving barn to establish ten individual altitude stalls.

“Many of our horses are spelled and pre-trained from here” commented Michael Trotter facility manager. “By pre-acclimatizing the horses to high altitude here we’re able to send them to our trainers in tip top condition to start their racing campaigns. A number of our trainers around the country have been working with Altitude Services and have installed on course altitude stalls to sustain the altitude effect once the horses get to Melbourne, Sydney or Adelaide. We’re confident that by putting this infrastructure in place we’ll be well ahead of the game come the Spring Carnival this year.”

“The Kilmore property is the biggest project we’ve undertaken to date. We recently completed a similar retrofit in Sydney using refrigeration panels for two pre-existing stalls, but moving to a ten horse facility has been a real challenge. We’ve opted for the latest hypoxic technology from our European offices which will dramatically reduce the power requirements needed to run this system. Also, our Kilmore client wishes to have a scalable system in place so that we can potentially take this to an 18 horse facility in the future. The new technology we’ve adopted here allows us to do this with only minimal infrastructure updates, keeping costs to a minimum” commented Altitude Services General Manager, Rod Cedaro.

With more equine and human facilities earmarked for development during 2015, Altitude Services is looking forward to an exciting future.
